Bound using traditional blood and ash binding these hollow tipped arrows were used in both hunting and warfare. Dating to the first quarter of the 20th century this collection was acquired in New Guinea from natives in the 1970's by the previous owner.

Dan Shaw, an American missionary-linguist-anthropologist who lived with the Samo people from 1970 until 1982, learned their language and did translation work.
