FEEL FREE TO MAKE AN OFFER!! What we have here is a. Rare OLD Museum Quality SEPIK ANCESTOR FIGURE from Papua New Guinea.
Made of Hard Heavy Tropical wood with fantastic Old Patina, Natural Earth Pigment Paint and Shell Eyes. This is an old Authentic Tribally Used piece with an old patina that only comes from time and use...Not a modern tourist carving. There are some interesting native tribally done modifications where some of the cracks are filled with a dark substance that appears to be a very hard wax or natural resin, which has paint pigment applied over portions of these modifications by the creator... Cracks do not appear to be full breaks, appear to be partial cracks natural to aging. Good size measures approximately 15 3/4 inches tall. By 7 3/4 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches deep and weighs a heavy 5.34 pounds.
Just look at this wonderful carving with great character and details... Used condition with wear and cracks... May have wear, tears, holes, chips, cracks, dings, scratches, rubs, losses, repairs, damages and other. As expected and common to such pieces.
See photos for over all condition. I don't know the age but to my eye appears quite old... Please look at photos and YOU determine. The age, the condition, what this is. Its authenticity and what this is worth.
