A Southern Highlands Shield, Probably Mendi Valley. Southern Highlands, Papua New Guinea. Of typical from the shield with central midrib and blackened surface, pigmented with triangles and remains of yellow chevrons. Handle attached through the body of the shield. The Shield measures 47 inches tall x 16 inches wide. In a private New York collection since 1980.
