A Lower Sepik/Ramu River Canoe prow. Madang province, Papua New Guinea. A Carved wooden canoe prow with stylistically rendered crocodile head which served to decorate and protect the canoe as well as magically empower it with ancestral energy. The Prow measures 19.25 x 10 inches. Provenance: Acquired in 1981 from Rudi Ceaser.
