
A large carved wooden spirit post, perhaps related to Yam harvest and Yam spirits, often kept in the Mens house. The sculpture features 3 faces and was carved from a very heavy dense wood and was accented with red, yellow and white mineral pigments. Acquired in the New Guinea prior to 1980. Kwoma peoples, Washuk Hills, north of the Sepik River, Papua New Guinea. The post measures 59.5 inches tall x 8 inches wide.
