Hand Carved Wooden Spirit House Artefact Sepik River Papua New Guinea

A hand carved wooden object aligned to Sepik Spirit Houses, symbolic of protection from evil spirits. The pigments around the eyes of the two-headed artefact are reminiscent of the face painting adornments for Sing-sing gatherings. The piece is approximately 34cm in height and 7cm at its widest and deepest, weighing 755 gms.

The object has surface wear commensurate with age e. A wood chip on the upper face, as photographed and the base has a slight lilt as it is not smoothened. All items will be packaged with care and I will ensure it is suitable for transit.
