Tambour à fente appelé "garamut" collecté dans la région des Blackwter en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée. Le tambour à fente sert à rythmer les cérémonies traditionnelles ou "singsing".

Pièce entièrement sculptée de dessins tribaux évoquant des plantes et animaux totémiques (notamment le crocodile). Bois dense présentant des traces d'usage et d'ancienneté.

The slit drum is used to give rhythm to traditional ceremonies or "singsing". Piece entirely sculpted with tribal designs evoking totemic plants and animals (notably the crocodile). Hard wood with traces of use and age. 106 x 19 x 21 cm.
