Large Old Stone Mortar Papua New Guinea Highlands

This ancient stone mortar was collected in the Western Highlands of New Guinea in the 1970's. The mortar has a deep dish and would have been used to grind seeds and nuts and also prepare pigments for ceremonies etc. It measures 23cm x 20cm x 15cm and weighs 8.5kgs.
