Lg RarePapua New Guinea Sepik River Mask Wood Feather Fiber 20 Ceremonial

Large and visually dramatic carved wood mask with natural feather and fiber attachments, likely Papua New Guinea Sepik style. Measures about 20 inches tall and displays beautifully with strong old-surface character, hand-worked construction, and excellent wall presence. Large carved wood mask in the Papua New Guinea Sepik River style, measuring approximately 20 inches high by 15 inches wide, with attached natural feather and plant-fiber elements. The form features a broad domed forehead, pierced oval eyes, projecting nose, and fiber fringe below the chin, giving it a powerful sculptural presence both on the wall and in a collection. Based on form and construction, this appears consistent with Oceanic tribal art from Papua New Guinea, likely in the Sepik tradition or closely related style. It is being offered as an ethnographic / decorative carving in that manner, with attribution presented as a good-faith stylistic assessment rather than a guaranteed tribal or ceremonial identification. The mask is made from carved wood and retains natural-material attachments including feathers at the crown/sides and coarse vegetal fiber along the lower edge. It has a dark, aged surface with visible wear, scattered abrasions, and signs of age throughout.
The back shows hand-worked construction and fiber lashing along the perimeter. This is a substantial, visually striking piece that displays exceptionally well. Weight: 3 lb 8 oz approx.
Pre-owned vintage condition with age-related wear. Surface scuffs, abrasions, scattered losses/wear to the natural fibers and feathers, and general aging to the finish and attachments. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description. Category: Ethnographic / Tribal Art.
