Très belle figure "Nogwi" collectée chez les Nokuma en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée. La Nogwi, symbole de fertilité, intervient pendant la troisième cérémonie de l'igname célébrant sa récolte et symbolise la naissance de ce tubercule sacré.

Elle vise à satisfaire les ancêtres pour obtenir une future bonne récolte. Cette troisième et dernière cérémonie est réservée aux initiés.

Bois et restes de polychromies. Traces d'usage avec ancienne restauration indigène au niveau d'un pied.
