Ancestor sculpture from the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea in local wood, hand-carved and painted with natural pigments. Latmul or similar Rivier Sepik style.
The body is sculpted and painted with natural pigments, eyes inlaid with cowrie shells, elements made of tree fibers. These sculptures are representations of spirits or ancestors, playing an important spiritual role in local culture. In excellent condition, there are some small imperfections.
