Two Asmat wooden shields for sale in good used condition as they are quite old. Have been meticulously cared for. Asmat tribal shields, known as jamasj, are large, intricately carved wooden artifacts traditionally used in warfare for protection against enemy attacks. Typically measuring 5 to 6 feet tall, these shields feature symbolic designs that reflect the owner's lineage and ancestral power, often including motifs such as animals and ancestor figures. The shields are crafted from lightweight mangrove roots or harder woods, decorated with natural pigments that hold spiritual significance. Each shield is unique, serving both as a functional weapon and a powerful cultural symbol. Larger shield measures 52 cm by 22cm weighs 1.1kg. Smaller shield measures 59cm by 13cm weighs 740grams.
