Old War Shield Papua New Guinea mid 20thC

Old and used war shield from the Highlands of New Guinea. The shield has a geometric zig zag design painted in red and white ochres and the surface has arrow or spear tips embedded. One of the tips is located at the top of a stable crack that has wire stabilising it. The top edge has a pecked design and the shield retains it's original handle. It is in good condition and measures 129cm x 50cm.
