They have moved with me over the years and mostly stored away out of sight. I want to find a good home with someone that can appreciate them.

ORIGINAL CARVED HANDHELD CEREMONIAL WAR SHIELDS FROM PAPUA NEW GUINEA ASMAT TRIBE. One is 6' x 17" wide and the other is 6'4"x 9. This striking shield was realized in Papua New Guinea towards the end of the 19th century.

The rectangular form in unfinished unbuckle hued hardwood has been inscribed with white curvilinear and geometric patterns. A small carved wood head adorns the top of the shield. These are not only compelling objects with a robust spiritual aura, but are compelling objects that would be a perfect addition to virtually any style of interior from classically inspired to ultra contemporary. Vintage condition - see pictures or send note for more pictures. The Asmat are an ethnic group of New Guinea, residing in the Papua province of Indonesia.
