Carved Wood Ancestral / Spirit Figure - Papua New Guinea Sepik-Ramu Style. Hand-carved wooden standing figure displaying stylistic characteristics associated with ancestral or spirit figures from the Lower Sepik and Ramu River regions of Papua New Guinea. The approximately 10-inch figure features an elongated carved head/headdress, prominent facial features, openwork carving around the body and arms, incised geometric decoration and an integral cylindrical decorated base. The underside remains unfinished and shows additional wear. Acquired without documentation or collection history.

Exact age, village, maker and ceremonial use are unknown, and this piece is therefore being offered as a Sepik/Ramu River style carving rather than as a definitively authenticated early ethnographic artifact.
