This is a fabulous old traditional tribal Brides Piece from the Papua Coast. This Shell piece is a large Conus shell with attached five Gold Lip Pearl Shells of varying size. These shells are some of the oldest forms of currency of Papua New Guinea and are used in many ceremonial ways through out the culture. This shell Brides Currency piece is very fine piece of museum quality and is from the 1950's. This is a lovely and unique with a history that would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
