Field collected, this is a beautiful raw powerful rare and unique Carved Spirit Figure Totem from the Palembai Village, Middle Sepik River Region, Papua New Guinea. This totem carving consisting of an Andingamai figure with female and animal characteristics with clan symbols and figures depicting a female spirit riding two fish with a crocodile on her back. There are stunning clan paintings covering the piece in tribal ochres. Carvers use more detail when they often refer directly or indirectly to ancestor or clan spirits and totems such as pig, cassowary, crocodile, eagle, or a water and bush bird.

This is a wonderfully carved rare totem with beautiful detail. This is a museum quality piece and a stunning collectors item.

Has had some old tribal repairs but is fully intact. This is the second last piece of three totems field collected we have left so don't miss out.

Estimated age 1960 to 70's. Pre post weight 3.6 kg. This is not always possible given the sizes and unique packing requirements for each unique piece. Can also insure package if required.
