Featuring a RARE and large 28 Papua New Guinea Asmat Tribe Wood Carved Bis Pole Sculpture Statue. It has light brown wood tone with three tiers of ancestors stacked on top of each other. These poles are central to the Asmat culture, serving as a way to honor deceased individuals. This one is thinner than the others I've owned and does not stand upright as the base is curved and too narrow for the length. It could be mounted on a base or alternatively mounted on a wall.
In great pre owned condition. No chips or breaks present; very minor discoloration present in some areas consistent with the wood grain. 1 LB 8 oz Weight before packaging.
This is a rare ethnographic decor piece with substantial cultural significance. A great addition to any collection of PNG statues and sculptures.Item will be packed carefully; see my account for more unique items.
