Rare Massim Currency from Sudest island Massim people Papua New Guinea. This rare form of Currency is only found in Sudest and the Louisiade Archipelago. It was used to place on the mouth of the corpse of a dead person to stop their spirit escaping and haunting the village. It is similar shape to WNB shell currency but smaller and completely different culture and customary use. 11.5 cm across and made of pearlshell.
