She has cowrie shell eyes and is wearing a seed necklace. Her skirt is made from coconut fronds.
The holes on the underside are from old tropical insect damage. Signs of historical wear and tear with native repair. Most items were collected by ourselves while we were living and working in Papua New Guinea in the 1980's.
We are now downsizing from our large old farmhouse to something more manageable for our age. Some carvings have signs of wear and tear due to age. Some have cracking which occurs as a result of taking items from the tropics to a colder, drier environment.
