Beaded Spirit Mask with Cane Basket Head Covering New Guinea 1984 M4. This vintage full-head hooded Spirit Mask is a stunning piece of art from the Sepik River Tribes of Papua Guinea h.

The intricate wood carving, intricate inlaid decorations and vibrant multi-color design make this mask a unique addition to any collection. The mask is approximately 12" tall and 10" wide, with hair of about 20, and is designed to fit entirely over the head. The face is wood and dried clay. Hair is represented by reddish dried grasses.

The back of the head covering is woven in a basket-like fashion. The mask is made of high-quality wood or dried clay or mud, and is a beautiful example of the craftsmanship of the tribe. The face of the headdress is brightly painted, has decorations of bones or claws, and inlaid cowrie shells. Some cowrie shells are missing.

It is an original piece from the Pacific Islands & Oceania culture This piece is perfect for any ethnographic or antique collector looking for a unique and original piece to add to their collection.
