This pectoral chest ornament would complete a Papua New Guinea man's Breastplate made from a kina shell mounted on a board of resin coated in ochre and decorated with tally stick and fibre band. The resin embedded Moka would take place only after the Moka ceremony and then the red coloring would be applied.The Kina Shell was an object of value and an essential part of the bride price. The value is judged by the condition of the shell, the size and the color.
