This fine ladle comes from Manam Island and is made from a carved hardwood shaft with a coconut gourd to form the bowl secured with cane bindings. The shaft has a series of six very fine ancestral figures depicted - note the second from the bottom is missing an arm. The ladle was part of the Jack and Isabel Pert Collection which was put together between the 1950's 1970's. It measures 63cm in length.
