This vintage set of three adzes and a ceremonial axe holder tool is a unique find from Papua New Guinea. The adzes were traditionally used for carving and shaping wood, while the axe holder tool was used during important ceremonies. Blade is missing from two axes, see photos.
The intricate designs on these tools reflect the rich culture of the Pacific Islands & Oceania. This set is a great addition to any collection of ethnographic antiques and a reminder of the skilled craftsmanship of Papua New Guinea's tribal communities.
