Masque à igname collecté dans le village de Maprik. Les masques à ignames servent à costumer les plus belles ignames sélectionnées au moment de la récolte. Cette racine est une des principales sources alimentaires dans la vallée du fleuve Sépik. Ce masque représente la tête de l'igname, manière très symbolique de prouver que ces tubercules sacrés ont bien une âme... Yam masks serve for dressing up the most beautiful yams just harvested. This root is one of the main food resource in the Sepik river valley.
