The Yipwon is one of the most stylized and symbolic objects of the Sepik River area. It represents a two-dimensional character with ribs, its heart located in the central part and the head.
Large specimens like this are placed in the Haus Tambaran (men's house) and are closely related to the warrior world. Its other name, wanleg (from the English "one leg") in Pidgin English designates all the figures of this style that are found in the region of the Blackwater River. Wood and remains of blue paint. Traces and lack of use. 84 x 3 x 18 cm.
